Kurt Weill-Tango Habanera

Katy Abbott Kvasnica-New work

Arnold Schoenberg arr. Steuermann-Verklärte Nacht

Verklärte Nacht is a ravishing and romantic representation of a poem which explores themes of forgiveness, love and transformation. Katy Abbott Kvasnica new work also explores these themes while Kurt Weill's Tango conveys the foreboding shadows and sensuality of Paris in the 1930's.

Space Jump

Thursday 27 October 2016 6.30pm, 2016.
Ludwig van Beethoven – Piano Trio No.8 in B-flat, WoO39

Mary Finsterer – New work
Fazil Say – ‘Space Jump’
Johannes Brahms – Piano Trio No.1 in B, Op.8

Skydiver Felix Baumgartner’s spectacular jump from the stratosphere is the inspiration for Fazil Say’s musical illustration of a revelatory voyage from space to earth. New perspectives of another kind are explored in Mary Finsterer’s world premiere written especially for Sutherland Trio.

The lush melodies of Brahms’ first foray into the piano trio repertoire are irresistible in their fresh embrace of the new romanticism, while Beethoven’s early exploration of the piano trio genre reveals the unparalleled hand of a master.
