Arnold Schoenberg arr. Steuermann-Verklärte Nacht

Fazil Say – ‘Space Jump’
Johannes Brahms – Piano Trio No.1 in B, Op.8
Skydiver Felix Baumgartner’s spectacular jump from the stratosphere is the inspiration for Fazil Say’s musical illustration of a revelatory voyage from space to earth. New perspectives of another kind are explored in Mary Finsterer’s world premiere written especially for Sutherland Trio.
The lush melodies of Brahms’ first foray into the piano trio repertoire are irresistible in their fresh embrace of the new romanticism, while Beethoven’s early exploration of the piano trio genre reveals the unparalleled hand of a master.
